Dilip Bafna’s GUTTER TALK is ARF’s official response to AWBI’s show cause notice!

Photo on 4 Jan 2013 @ ARF: Amputation of an accident case - ARF style. No stictches, skin cover, follow up medication. An open festering wound dripping pus and dying flesh. Maybe the dog dies of gangrene. Maybe it lives. No one is really bothered.

Dilip Bafna explains the condition of this dog after amputation, and others at ARF Bangalore, as due to ‘Mr Rakesh Shukla’s mental health’  and continues his personal attack in 10 of 15 pages in the response to AWBI of the show cause service on him. In the picture: Amputation of an accident case – ARF style. No stitches  skin cover, follow up medication. An open festering wound dripping pus and dying flesh. Maybe the dog dies of gangrene. Maybe it lives. No one is really bothered.

  • In 3 preceding articles we saw the

All the reporting was a statement of facts and there was no slander against the Managing Trustee of Dilip Bafna – who as he himself says has been at the forefront of ‘animal welfare’ for 15 years – and to quote him “…we would like to inform the hon’ble AWBI, that trustees of ARF are magnetic businessmen, whose businesses grow by about 20-30% every year.. … had the trustees not started ARF and only concentrated on their business growth for the past 15 years, then each trustee would have had his or her company listed on one or more stock-exchanges of India…” . It is clear however it did not occur to ARF’s management to spend a little of that wealth to spend on the welfare of the dogs in their care. There are other nuggets of wisdom such as why were the wounds left open: “…. the animal licks the wound with its tongue and applies its saliva on the wound…. saliva is a very good anti-septic in itself….

ARF responded to the notice served on it by the AWBI via the response enclosed here [ARF Response to AWBI’s show cause on  irregularities at the ARF Kengeri shelter]. This was received by Rakesh Shukla of  ‘The Voice of Stray Dogs’ (VoSD) from AWBI to respond to the statements made by Mr Dilip Bafna in ARF’s response. Rakesh Shukla/VoSD’s response has been supplied to AWBI.

What is most interesting is that in responding to AWBI Mr Dilip Bafna has spend 10 of the 15 pages of his response in writing personally about Rakesh Shukla personally [who incidentally was a complainant through VoSD] and another complainant [name withheld in the document]. All the facts presented in the complaints and articles [AWBI has been given at least 5-6 written complaints by eyewitnesses that there copied to VoSD] are stated simply as ‘denied’.

That a person with the integrity, language and expression of Mr Bafna, who claims to be at the helm of animal welfare or the cause of stray dogs surely must be a disappointment to all the people who’ve expected any ownership, if not leadership, by Mr Dilip Bafna and ARF. And more importantly, to the dogs.

Dilip Bafna’s explains the actions of ARF and his own at the Kengeri Shelter thus:

Page 4 of ARF response to AWBI’s notice

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “The Complainants ONLY want to blame ARF & complain ONLY against ARF to your esteemed Board. The Complainants have not filed any complaints against the remaining ONE BILLION Indians, to your esteemed Board. In India, Animal-Cruelty can be seen in every locality, jatka stand, butcher’s shop, pet-shop, Cow-Buffalo shed, agricultural-farm, poultry-farm, tannery, animal-research center, pharmaceutical research-center, animal-product extraction units, etc. but the complainant’s have focussed only on ARF. This clearly proves Complainants are driven by a perverted and a prejudiced approach and have malicious intentions against ARF.”

Ergo the complainants have no business complaining and the AWBI should not consider complaints against ARF since a complaint against 1 billion other people has not been lodged!

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “Rakesh has come only once to our Treatment Center and spent less than 30 minutes. It took more than 15 years, for more than 15 of our people, to establish systematic procedures – for our every Treatment Center. How can a novice like Rakesh understand the system and its defects in less than 15 hours? Either Rakesh is a genius or pretends to be a genius!”

The article and the timestamps on the pictures taken personally span 2.5 hrs from 1200 to 1430 on the said day. There ARE/WERE no procedures as has been put on record by at least 5-6 other eyewitnesses in their written complaints. And oh BTW  we do run the only professional trauma helplines and ambulance service, employ vets and handlers – each day VoSD handled 4-5 cases of trauma at an average. Its interesting to note that at this the time Rakesh personally has more than 75 dogs at his home. All but 1 are rescued and have recovered from trauma; Rakesh was a co-opted member of AWBI till he resigned and was ‘competent’ to carry out inspections for AWBI.

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “Whenever ARF had excess funds or any resource, ARF was happy to donate that money or share that resource with other Animal-welfare NGOs like PAWS-Mumbai, Avis Lyon’s NGO in Kerala, Hope & Animals Organisation – Ranchi, CUPA – Suparna Ganguli, etc. Unlike some NGOs, none of the trustees of ARF have personally enriched their lifestyles from the resources of the trust.”

Its interesting to know that ARF would not provide the necessary intervention and care for the dogs in its care but it claims that its been funding/ contributing to PAWS-Mumbai, Animal Rescue Kerala (ARK), Hope & Animals Organisation  &  CUPA (Bangalore)!

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “Currently ARF has 59 animals, for some problem. Of our 59 animals, more than 30 are recovering and will quickly be released or returned. Rakesh is smart NOT to click photos of those 30 successful cases, but he adopts a skewed sampling and photographs the sad 15 animals, who cannot recover.”

ARF response was send to AWBI on the 20 Feb 2013 in which Dilip claims there are 59 animals out of which 30 will be released and returned when it does not release and return. More importantly the previous articles by VoSD shows eyewitnesses on record that ARF was releasing dogs and within a day or 2 of Mr Bafna’s claim – 30 dogs were either summarily released or Mr Bafna is lying.

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “Rakesh is a professional writer and we heard that he runs a Writer’s Training Institute. This article serves more as an advertisement to his writing skills… when he takes out a terminally ill dog from ARF, he does not want to euthanize that dog. He wants to watch it die slowly, so that he can ‘display and promote’ the dog’s pain over his facebook pages. The child – Rakesh beats every teenager on the facebook.”

Rakesh runs India’s largest and most successful Technical Communication and Enterprise content management company – TWB, of which he’s the founder. The Voice of Stray Dogs is a privately managed trust funded by TWB and Rakesh. The largest enterprises in the world in IT, Defense etc are TWB’s customers, TWB hardly needs and advertisement through ARF’s unfortunate dogs to further its business interests.

The medical neglect and story of Raju the GSD that came in Rakesh’s personal care and that alerted us all to ARF’s ‘vegan’ hell is covered here. We fight for a dogs life and would have to let him go only if the suffering is irreversible as in the case of Raju when 4 senior vets (1 of VoSD and 3 of Bangalore’s most successful vet hospital) concurred that Raju would not recover and indeed was in great pain following complete multiple organ failure. Mr Bafna’s valiant defense of Raju’s condition is given in detail here what he has to say is interesting and shows Mr Bafna’s caliber as a caregiver.

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “..if we were to try the same trick on Rakesh, we would go to his house, take a photograph of his smiling child; Post that photo on Internet, and write below that photo: “In spite of being beaten by his barbaric father, every night, he craves and smiles for a little love, even from a stranger”.

Is that a threat Mr Bafna? Illustrative of  level of person you are?

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: ” Rakesh is a bluff master, and the story of Jhonty (Raju) stated by him is absolutely false. Veterinary Doctors at ARF had declared the dog Jhonty as untreatable and only admitted Jhonty for a second opinion from another Veterinary doctor. The second Veterinary Doctor did not give a convincing report of Jhonty’s chances of survival. In the initial 30-40 days there were some parameters of Jhonty’s health improved. One volunteer Karthik convinced us that one Mansi Jaiswal may get a positive opinion and treatment from a third veterinary doctor. So we sent Jhonty to this Manasi for a more advanced opinion, out of trust. These people never returned the animal back to us and informed us that they will take care of the Animal till the last. They breached our trust and the Owner instructed us to let them handle that case. These Karthik and Manasi sent that Animal to Rakesh Shukla. Rakesh popped in to the picture and he undertook the care of Jhonty and renamed him as Raju. Raju’s painful life was extended for a few days, so that Rakesh could fill his facebook pages with poetical and emotional stories, and increase the number of hits on Rakesh’s facebook pages. Finally Rakesh had to euthanize Raju. He only used Raju as a tool to increase his network on Facebook.”

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “… In brief we are sure that Rakesh has a filthy, sick mind and needs a psychiatrist. If Rakesh voluntarily undertakes psychiatric treatment, all the ARF-trustees would jointly contribute Rs.1000, as a gesture of good-will…we request the Hon’ble AWBI, to not to waste the resources of the Central Government, on the complaints of this mad man.”

Page 13: (Annexure E) of ARF response to AWBI notice

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: ” To an ordinary person, the activities of ARF run on a leased land in Kengeri. For the trustees of ARF, all the activities of ARF run in their nerves and zooms in their heart… For the trustees of ARF, Animal Rights is a passion beyond recognition, beyond time, beyond space, beyond resources and even beyond life”

Those dogs in ARF did not see the passion nerves and zooms (sic) in your hearts (sic), a passion ‘beyond time, beyond space, beyond resources and even beyond life’!

Page 13: (Annexure E) of ARF response to AWBI notice

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “NGOs like ARF, have more practical knowledge and skilled man-power than even Animal Welfare Boards. Because NGOs like ARF directly touch the lives of at least 2000 animals every year. Some humans like Rakesh, do animal welfare by only typing and blogging on the facebook. This nasty habit of Rakesh has prevented him from growing beyond a single Animal Shelter”

Humility is not a virtue for Mr Bafna. He says ARF has more skills than the Animal Welfare Board of India. But sinister is the fact that ARF ‘touches the lived of 2000 animals per year’ if the illustrations available in public domain are any reckoning of this touching! For the record ‘The Voice of Stray Dogs’ does not run even one shelter of any kind.

Page 13: (Annexure E) of ARF response to AWBI notice

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “ARF is aware of all laws of Euthanasia and its Veterinary Doctors follow the laws. Rakesh is only bluffing falsehood against ARF. In Rakesh’s Article, “The Cookie that refused to crumble”, Rakesh indirectly admits his violation of Euthanasia laws.”

Cookie’ was an abandoned St Bernard and her valiant story can be seen here. By all but Mr Bafna’s myopic eyes.

Page 13: (Annexure E) of ARF response to AWBI notice

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “If Mr. Rakesh stops filing false complaints against ARF, our Veterinary Doctors will treat him free of cost for the rest of his life. ARF will build a new shelter for him. No human doctor will be able to treat him.”

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “Rakesh is a liar and he has over-lied in both the cases. We wish he files a proper evidence-affidavit against ARF in any court of law, so that our lawyers will make a Draupadi of him, in a judicial cross examination. ”

Dilip Bafna/ Managing Trustee for ARF writes: “One cannot avoid flies when there are 59 animals, their food, their urine and excreta around. Any fool like Rakesh would jump up and advise ARF to use pesticides and get rid of the flies. But our Veterinary Doctors know when and how much pesticide to use and its side-effects on our 59 animals in the shelter.”

Flies are not removed because of side effects on dogs. Maggot wounds is not one of them!

If Mr Bafna stayed focused on the health of the dogs as much as he is focused on the integrity and mental health of Rakesh Shukla, there would not a reason to write anything on ARF to begin with!
