Mr Roy has lived with his 52 four legged friends dogs in West Marredpally, Secunderabad for many years. His doors were always open to community dogs, distressed dogs and puppies brought from all over the city. But they were always short of space. Today Mr R K Roy shifts to his 4 acre home made exclusively for dogs a little distance away from Hyderabad, which is open to all dogs and the strays of GHMC pounds too! In the background of hopelessness of the situation for the stray dogs of Hyderabad, this a very hopeful story. This is the story of a single man’s determination to turn the odds and create an oasis in a desert for stray dogs. Mr R K Roy’s single minded determination to bring some succor to the strays of Hyderabad has always been making a difference as Mission Saromayo. Now it taken on a larger and an entirely new form. He has single handedly realized his dream of a permanent home for Dogs.
The 1st phase of construction of this dog heaven has been completed. The home is situation at Achampet, Mehabubnagar Dist. Andhra Pradesh (130 Km from Hyderabad, 80 Km ahead of SriSailam). What show’s the mettle of the man is that to get this home made and getting the 4 acre land registered there has not been any outside help but for the people who willing donated. What is equally noteworthy is that every contributor is listed on the website of Mission Saromayo!
The home is not only a canine home but will also have:
- A canine hospital of human standards. The hospital will have every specialization for canine care and Mr Roy dreams of making it the ‘Vellore’ for canine treatment.
- A Virology Research Center, planned with the aim of developing a one time application of DAP vaccine, single dose oral birth control pills, development of Canine Distemper cure through spinal marrow culture and Parvo cure with Ayurvedic and Homeopathic combination etc.
- A free dispensary at Mission Saromayo HO at Marredpally with an Ambulance cum First Aid vehicle for the service of dogs.
The total planned expense of the project is INR 45lacs/ US$100,000 and a little over 10% of the project is complete.
His home of dogs has no charges for accommodation for any dog but only for food & medical care. The home is made for:
- Made for all our distressed stray dogs as well as abandoned pedigreed dogs
- To give relief to those kind hearted people who are feeding dogs in streets but can not adopt them
- Those who want to rescue dogs from municipal dog pounds/streets
- For those who goes out of town for a long period and needs a safe place for their pets during their absence.

- Visiting the home and giving your feedback.
- Donating your all discarded goods to the home. You can inform Mission Saromayo and they will arrange for a pick up
- Sell your discarded goods to Mission Saromayo: They will pay the price offered by a dealer. For Mission Saromayo every Rs 1 saved in procurement is equivalent to Rs.100.
